Running is SO much more fun than waiting… Today is the last day of the World Championship Dog Sled Races, don’t forget to go cheer for these furry, four-legged athletes!
In other news, Team USA won gold in a World Cup xc-skiing sprint race – nice work ladies!!!
I love when the Bohemian Waxwings come to town. They are mesmerizing as they swoop and swirl from tree to tree, filling the air with their chirping. And, I really love their name.
I visited Loussac Library this evening, and spend a bit of time checking out a fascinating photography and oral history exhibit, “When Crab was King: Faces of the Kodiak King Crab Fishery 1950 – 1982.”

My dad entered a chili cook-off for Anchorage Downtown Rotary – it was a bit of a blind leap, considering he’d never made chili before.
Once upon a time, there was a volunteer cross-walk guard who guided Romig Jr. High students as they crossed Minnesota on the way to school. A student mentioned in passing that her 13th birthday was the next day.
Do you remember how a few months ago I was hoping to go on a hard hat tour of a cool new project? Well, today I got my chance! Covenant House opened the doors to their new home (obviously still under construction as shown in the above photo) for downtown-ers and I got to poke around and ooo and ahh* to my heart’s content!

Fun things to do on Valentine’s Day in Anchorage:
I visited Denver a few years ago and thought it was such a cool city. I loved walking through Lodo* (lower downtown) with lights twinkling above me, popping into an underground comedy club (where I saw one of the few comedians I actually thought was funny; I wish I remembered her name!), and sitting outside on restaurant patios sipping cold beverages and nibbling olives.
I haven’t used the term “brekkie” since I studied abroad in Australia.
