Ch2 Road Trippin'

Have you been following the Ch. 2 Road Trippin’ team? They’re basically living my dream of roving the state, living it up as they discover tales of Alaskan history and adventure. If you’re not, you should be — who doesn’t love a good road trip?

The finished segments shown on the news are fun, but I’m really loving all the Facebook posts from Rebecca Palsha, Ariane Aramburo, and Maria Downey – use #ch2roadtrippin to see what I mean. Fun photos from all over Alaska,* mixed with behind the scenes peeks of the people making each segment.

This year, the Road Trippin’ team is focusing on Alaska’s road houses, and is revealing fascinating little stories from all over the state. For example, Rebecca posted a photo of a stained glass door, captioned:

“This is the front door of an old church. This little building, which is now a church, is actually all that’s left of the original Meiers Lodge. The state was going to tear it down so the owners quickly put up a steeple and it became a church. Any denomination that wants to preach here, can.”

I probably never would have learned about Meiers Lodge and its beautiful door if it hadn’t been for #ch2roadtrippin. KTUU put together a map of their route so you can follow along, and is also hosting a Roadtrippin’ iSpy game.

I think I need to make some Alaskan stories of my own – time to throw the bulldogs in the truck, grab my best road trippin’ buddy, and hit the road for summer adventure!
