Maury Studio Show

Maury Studio

Today is the last day of the Maury Studio sale, one of my favorite holiday shopping traditions.

The studio sale features potters Toni and Kirby Maury, jeweler Ashley Maury Griffo, and painter Scott Clendaniel. I’ve written about them a few times before (Beer and Painting, Studio Show – featuring Toni and Kirby, Ashley Maury Jewelry, and Artrepreneurs and Arts Education) and I didn’t want any of you to miss out on the chance to stop by!

Today: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location2527 Susitna Dr. Anchorage AK 99517

This year, Ian Maury is selling wild Alaskan salmon caught in Cook Inlet – salmon has been filleted, flash frozen, and is ready for a yummy meal! Tip: If you want to learn how to “go from fabulous to frozen in a flash” check out the Cook it Frozen website for great recipes and cooking techniques.

My brother and I timed our visit just right – the studio was empty except for us when we arrived, allowing for some good catch-up time with the Maurys and Scott, and then it quickly filled up with old friends I haven’t seen for way too long. I love the conversations that occur during these mini-Westside reunions; everything from putting butter in your coffee and recent travel adventures to how to make gorgeous wooden bowls and baby updates.

If you’re not a former or current Westsider, stop by anyway – there is much to see (and maybe buy!) and it’s so much fun to get to see the studio and talk to Toni, Kirby, Ashley, and Scott about their work and creative process, and chat with Ian about fishing.

There are plenty of beautiful pottery pieces, paintings, jewelry, and salmon fillets still available, and I hope you love it as much as I do. Also, I heard something about shortbread cookies fresh from the oven… get over there while they’re still hot!

I love Anchorage. I love what it is, what it's been, and what I dream it will be. I share my adventures with DJ (my husband), my fabulous family and friends, two frenchies named Grover and Teddy, and now, all of you. If you love Anchorage too, get in touch - guest posts are welcome!
