Rainbow Lemon Tree on Lemonade Day

Rainbow Lemon Tree

It’s Lemonade Day in Alaska! I stopped by the Rainbow Lemon Tree  stand outside Skinny Raven to support some of Alaska’s youngest entrepreneurs (and also to indulge my love of lemon flavored anything).

Rainbow Lemon Tree took the traditional lemonade stand to a whole new level of gourmet goodness. In addition to classic lemonade, they offered strawberry lemonade, lemon coconut bars, lemon cookies, mango lassi (never tried it before today  – YUM!), and my new favorite, lemon curd. They also put together decorations and outfits to compliment their booth – lots of yellow, rainbows, and a number of unicorns. Pretty much overall awesomeness (and I kinda wished I had my own unicorn rainbow headwear!).

The Lemonade Day bus is cruising around town (complete with a Lemonhead!) visiting various stands – I love all the names: Bobby Johnson’s Lizard Lemonade, Lemonade Chicken, AK Ahoy Lemonade, TNT Lemonade,  RAW Lemonade, Sweet and Sour Lemonade, and more. If you want to visit any of them, you can find a map of lemonade stands in Alaska here.

Here’s a bit more about Lemonade Day:

America was built on the back of small business. Entrepreneurs used to take risks believing they could realize their dream if they worked hard, took responsibility and were good stewards of their resources. Today’s youth share that optimism, but lack the life skills, mentorship and real-world experience necessary to be successful. In 2007, founder Michael Holthouse had a vision to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs through helping them start, own and operate their very own business…a lemonade stand. Lemonade Day is a strategic 14-step process that walks youth from a dream to a business plan, while teaching them the same principles required to start any big company. Inspiring kids to work hard and make a profit, they are also taught to spend some, save some and share some by giving back to their community.

Pretty cool, right?! Did you have a chance to visit a lemonade stand today?

  1. Does Lemoncello qualify on your good list? It may not be real appropriate for young entrepreneurs even though it is lemon flavored.
