Picnic in the Park

Picnic in the Park

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring us the most pleasure. Like a picnic in the park to break up the workday.

I grabbed sandwiches from Great Harvest, and drinks and sweets from La Bodega, and met a couple of friends for lunch in the Cuddy Family Midtown Park. We lounged in the sunshine on the steps leading to the pond, watching the ducks fight while dogs played in the sprinklers and little people peered through the fence at the soon to be opened Park for All (Anchorage’s first accessible playground). It was pretty perfect.

If you can, give yourself a lunch hour in a park, far away from computer screens, email, and ringing phones. It’s utterly relaxing, and felt so good to slow down and soak in all the happy sounds of summer.
