Love Note: You’ve Got Mail

Cards

One of the best surprises is opening the mailbox and finding a letter or care package. It’s not the kind of love note I usually write about (since my focus is love notes to our city) but it’s the perfect way to tell someone they are special! A handwritten card filled with good thoughts, especially in this age of instant, electronic communication, brightens any day.

Some of my friends are GREAT at this (you know who you are!).  I’m trying to be better (friends who have not received baby packages yet, know this: they will come.  Some day.  Preferably before baby gifts no longer fit!).

My all-time favorite care package surprises were from my mom when I was in college – one Valentine’s day she hand-painted and decorated heart-shaped boxes and filled them with my favorite things like her frosted sugar cookies, pajamas, cozy socks, and earrings.  Perfect.  I still smile to think of it.

When was the last time you sent or received something special in the mail?
