Fourth of July Fireworks for Election Day

Some people are celebrating right now.  Others are commiserating.

Regardless of whether you feel like you won or lost tonight, a very smart guy (that I happen to be married to) says, “Work hard. Love your family, love your wife.  Be kind to other people, and do your best.  We all want the same things – our health, the happiness of those we love, and a job you like that allows you to provide for the people you care about.”

It makes me sad to see our country so clearly divided between red and blue.  I’m firmly nonpartisan, and my hope for this election is that both sides take a little more care with each other, work harder to meet in the middle, and try to take on the difficult issues that need  some serious work.

Because when it comes down to it, we live in a pretty wonderful place.

I’ll end with a quote from Thomas Jefferson that I love:

“I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”
